Israeli airstrikes and Hezbollah attacks in south Lebanon escalate tensions
In a recent wave of violence, Israel conducted heavy airstrikes in south Lebanon while Hezbollah launched explosive drones and rockets at Israeli targets. The attacks resulted in casualties, with three Palestinian fighters from the Quds Brigades and at least one Hezbollah fighter losing their lives.
The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has been ongoing since October, leading to displacement on both sides of the border. Israeli military targeted Hezbollah military structures and infrastructure in south Lebanon, resulting in secondary explosions indicating weapons storage facilities were hit.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant warned of a “hot summer” in the border region, emphasizing the need for a diplomatic agreement or military solution for the safety of residents in northern Israel. More than 250 Hezbollah members and 75 civilians have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon since October, while 20 people – including soldiers and civilians – have been killed in Israel.
Hezbollah has stated it will cease fire when the Israeli offensive in Gaza stops, but is prepared to continue fighting if Israel continues to attack Lebanon. The ongoing conflict has raised concerns about further escalation and the impact on civilians in both countries. Stay tuned for more updates on the situation at Poh Diaries.
